CAPE Declaration Submissions Now Open
CBP has announced that submissions for the Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries (CAPE) Declaration are now open. To speed up this process, Suntsu is officially submitting our CAPE Declaration today, Wednesday, April 22nd. Our team will closely monitor the declaration’s status to ensure compliance and quick processing.
Phased Rollout and Expected Timelines
The tariff refunds are being rolled out by the government in distinct phases:
- Phase 1: The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is currently accepting CAPE Declarations containing entries liquidated within the preceding 80 days.
- Future Phases: At this time, CBP has not published a timeline for additional phases.
- Refund Issuance: According to CBP, refunds will generally be issued within 60 to 90 days following the formal acceptance of the CAPE Declaration.
Important Clarification on Tariff Eligibility
Suntsu prioritizes transparency with our partners. We want to clarify that not all tariffs were found to be illegal under this ruling. As a result, not all tariffs paid during this period will be fully refunded. Some tariffs collected during imports remain active and lawful. Our supply chain and legal teams are actively working to identify all eligible entries to ensure we maximize refunds for our affected business activities.
