About Alliance Memory
Founded in 2006, Alliance Memory is a privately held, fabless supplier of legacy and newer-generation memory products, headquartered in Kirkland, Washington. The company was founded by David Bagby, who serves as president and CEO and whose prior memory-industry roles included Hitachi, Samsung, and Alliance Semiconductor. It emerged from the 2006 breakup of Alliance Semiconductor, acquiring that company’s fast asynchronous memory product line while other assets went elsewhere — the SRAM line to ISSI, the systems solution line to Tundra Semiconductor. The business operated from California until January 2020, when it moved its headquarters and U.S. warehouse to Kirkland, near Seattle. Its model targets component discontinuations and supply gaps: as a fabless manufacturer, its substantial investment in wafer dies lets it minimize or eliminate die shrinks and hold pricing stable. Inventory is held in the U.S., Shanghai, and Taiwan for fast delivery, and regional offices span Europe, Asia, Canada, and South America. It is a small organization — on the order of a few dozen employees.
The company offers a portfolio of memory ICs spanning DRAM, SRAM, flash, and eMMC. Its pin-for-pin compatible parts act as drop-in replacements for memory ICs from Micron, Samsung, Infineon/Cypress, Macronix, Winbond, ISSI, Nanya, and Hynix, letting OEMs keep existing board designs rather than paying for redesigns and requalification. Its stated target markets are communications, computing, embedded, IoT, networking, industrial, and consumer, with medical and automotive also served. Competitive pricing, a dual-sourcing supply strategy, inventory management, rapid sample turnaround, and customer support are the pillars it markets to customers.
Its central differentiator is long-term availability. Alliance Memory offers a longevity commitment on many — not all — of its products, guaranteeing availability for 7 to 10 years from launch; afterward, those parts fall under the company’s standard product lifecycle policy and product change notification (PCN) process. The company frames quality as a core value rather than just a policy, citing reliable products, on-time delivery, and dedicated support, and says it continuously improves its quality management system.
