Watch Crystal Shortages?
The world’s most popular tuning fork watch crystal has been the 3.2mm x 1.5mm package for a long time. Suntsu’s equivalent watch crystal, the SWS312 series, has been popular among our customers! Unfortunately, this part is becoming harder and harder to find in the marketplace, and lead times on the SWS312 are not ideal. A combination of tuning fork blank shortages and tier-one Japanese producers moving their focus onto more compact parts has led to a global shortage for this package.

The last thing anyone wants to hear about in today’s market is another shortage, luckily, we have solutions that can help! Current lead times on the 3.2mm x 1.5mm SWS312 watch crystal is running anywhere from 24 – 52 weeks depending on the volume. Yet, Suntsu can support your design in other ways.
How Suntsu can Still Support Your Design!
For any design that can utilize a watch crystal with 90k Ohms we are recommending our customers re-design their boards to utilize our 2.0mm x 1.0mm SWS212 or 1.2mm x 1.0mm SWS112 watch crystals. These packages are not in short supply today and lead times are running 10-12 weeks on production volumes.
