Over a year has passed since the fire at the Asahi Kasei Microsystems (AKM) factory broke out, devastating the TCXO industry. This fire stopped production on about 70% of the global supply of integrated circuits required to manufacture TCXO’s.
Although AKM has begun producing IC’s again, limited production capacity mixed with the worldwide demand backlog is still causing difficulties in the TCXO market. The good news is that some frequencies and package sizes are becoming more available and Suntsu is helping customers get out of trouble when it comes to their TCXO needs.
Lead times are still 60+ weeks on 3.2mm x 2.5mm packages and larger, and CMOS TCXO’s are also experiencing those same lead times. Our recommendation is to place orders for these packages as soon as possible. There isn’t much that can be done about these lead times right now but adjusting to the new normal of lead times being 60+ weeks can help avoid line stoppages in the future.
There are some select packages and frequencies where lead times are much better. Suntsu has 28-week lead times on the following packages and frequencies:
2.5mm x 2.0mm and 2.0mm x 1.6mm Packages

- 32.000MHz
