First introduced in 1996, the Universal Serial Bus, more commonly referred to as USB, is the most popular interconnect standard for communication, connection, and power supply. When the first USB was released, the maximum signaling rate was 12 Mb/s, but as speed requirements have increased, updated USB generations were released to accommodate the new specifications. In 2000, the USB 2.0 came out, reaching speeds of 480 Mb/s, and in 2008 the USB 3.0 was released at 5 Gb/s.

In 2019, the USB 4.0 was introduced as the next generation of USBs. Boasting even faster speeds and increased port usage, the USB 4.0 was being used in computers by 2020. These USBs also ensure backward compatibility with their predecessors and other standard inputs.

Suntsu’s USB 4.0 Gen3 C-type represents the latest and greatest in USB Connector technology. It is compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and provides a maximum data transmission speed of 40 Gb/s. The USB C-Type can also deliver up to 100W of power with a 5A current rating. This version has a 24-pin PCB mount with a distinctive EMI design on the back of the receptacle shell to eliminate EMI leakage.
